Aha! Why Records Sound Like Records....
I've been wanting to have access to a good bit of writing to clearly explain why vinyl sounds the way it does for ages - and also to explain why there are certain things you (or perhaps 'I') can't do because they're just not "cutable"....and I've just stumbled across a good bit of blurb here about that very thing.
Excellent.

I Rather Enjoyed....
The Worst Week Of My Life. Has just finished its series on BBC1, and it was most entertaining.
And it just happened to have the ever-lovely Sarah Alexander in a wedding dress for most of the episodes. Cool!

Cookery Corner
I'm not sure why I'm sharing this with you, but hey I didn't have a tin of chopped tomatoes in the cupboard (not mad on lumps of tomato anyway, as it happens) so had to improvise a bit....
baked bean bolognese (kind of)
500g lean beef mince (not too lean you need some fat in there)
4 rashers streaky bacon (roughly chopped)
4 good size cup mushrooms (roughly chopped)
1/2 large onion (roughly chopped)
1 teaspoon lazy garlic (a clove or so if using fresh garlic)
3/4 tin baked beans
concentrated tomato puree
worcester sauce
brown the mince in a medium size saucepan on a high heat, then add in the bacon, mushrooms and onion. turn down to medium heat and continue to cook until the bacon is done all the way thru (important as it's piggy meat!). next add in the baked beans (use ALL the juice from the can, but only about 3/4 of the actual beans), the garlic and 3 good squirts (about a tablespoon) of the tomato puree. turn down to a lowish heat, and stir often (as the added sugar in the baked beans makes it stick to the pan easily)....simmer for about 5 mins (whilst still stirring!) then add in another 3 squirts of tomato puree and a couple of good splats of worcester sauce (or more if you like it tangy). simmer for another 5 mins or so, continuing to stir....
serve with fresh carrots and garden peas.
Yum!

And then, just as you go to 'throw together' a b-side.....
...it ends up turning out better than the A side ever would or did.
And you start to re-think it all....
Shades of 'Mad World' there, hahahahaha.....
(and enough of the stuff about the O2 ad [can I just state again, for the record in public, that it is not a Go Go Underground tune. It really isn't. Not at all. Forget it.] in the comments of the last post please, it's getting messy now! Cheers)

Just to clear up this thing about the O2 ad....
Well, OK, I shouldn't have posted something that was actually true on April 1st. Silly me. Although in my defence it was well past the midday deadline!!!
Anyway, in clear simple language:
The new O2 ad (with all the speakers and bouncing images etc) is indeed a new Fatboy Slim track. It doesn't have a real title yet (though it has a working title of course). It's not a whole track yet - It won't be released as a track - yet. It might well get turned into a whole track one day, and then you might be able to buy it (or download it for free, if that's the way you do these things) - should you so wish.
Look, it's not April the 1st!!!!

Finally revealed....
The big secret thing we were working on a couple of weeks back, all that surround sound mixing etc, was the soundtrack for the new O2 ad for their new Digital Music Player [pop up] - it's just been shown on Channel 4 so I think I'm allowed to mention it now :)
So now you all know.
