I keep hearing myself coming out of the TV....

The new BBC3 promo that is all over the other BBC channels uses "Mi Bebe Masochista" from Palookaville. The promo ends with me going "Huh!".

It's quite strange....

A Very Merry Christmas....

...to everyone I know that reads this rubbish, to the people I don't know but read this rubbish anyway and to anyone that has generally just been nice this last year.

I like Robots.

And I like running robots even more.

Honda have got their ASIMO running now, see the Flash movie here.

And there's the BBC story about it.

There is something wonderfully spooky about watching this. It really has a other-worldly quality about it.

The singles chart....what does it all mean?

Looking at this weeks UK singles charts makes even less sense than last weeks did (you know - the week when "Wonderful Night"...er..."didn't do that well" as it were)

Being an "established" artist means nothing - singles wise - anymore.

That could be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view (my opinion kind of covers both conclusions, much to some people's annoyance...)

Robbie Williams in at number 8 - this was tipped to perhaps steal the top spot from Band Aid 20. Er...nope. He seemed to do all the promotion possible, all the horrible Saturday morning watered-down kids TV stuff that I'm guessing he was hoping he didn't have to do in this stage of his career. Didn't seem to help that much...Perhaps the single is actually rubbish and a number 8 is a bit of a result really...who knows....but perhaps a year ago it didn't seem to matter that much what he actually released, it was the fact it was him that made it a hit.

But what I find more interesting is things such as:

Maroon 5 (surely what "music is supposed to sound like" if you listen to such stations such as XFM)....only went in at 27.

Ash (surely "established" though I don't like their stuff) in at 33?
Beastie Boys at 38? (not the best track from the album, I'll admit)

I mean, there always should be some sort of "well it depends on how good the single is, not how famous they are" aspect to a single release -> chart position (which I generally subscribe to as a concept) but even so, it's all very interesting to see happening....

Yes, Christmas always twists the singles chart somewhat...but I suppose my point is that things just don't work the way they used to when it comes to singles and where they might enter the chart and what that actually means....

Hmmmmm....

Unlikely I know....

...but if anyone should ever need lots of sounds from the original Fairlight II library, you can find them here.

Yes, they are as poor as we all remembered them to be....

107

So, according to an interview that was shown on TV tonight, Tony Bennett has made 107 albums. That is A LOT of stuff.

OK, I'm on, what, 15 or so? 20 maybe? Time to get working.....

Not missing the 80's that much....

You just gotta laugh....really you do...

Now, I think Mr Clarkson is a very entertaining presenter/writer but OUCH.
