You know...people...sometimes....urgh....

OK, so it seems that this post all about streaming live TV over an iChat IM link is about the most useful thing I've ever written that has gone on to be published on the WWW (not that's it's had that much competition I'll admit - this post all about Digidesign DSP cards and software, and what they do, is second in the list of most visited pages on mm.com....)

I would ask that if people end up emailing me for further technical details and advice about the whole subject (and I've had a good few of those up to now - a surprising amount in fact) that you at the very least sent back a simple "thanks for your time" after I spent a minimum of 10 minutes of real life time breaking the whole subject down into smaller details for those visitors that (commonly) didn't quite read it all properly in the first place...

I'm not trying to moan here, but blimey, where has everyone's good manners gone?

Excuse the mess.....

Yes, it's that time again.

I'm currently mucking around with the CSS on this site, please forgive me if it's all a little hard to read at the moment - there's still a few little issues to sort out...

Spot the difference?

Crazy Frog

Vs

The intro to the Son Of Wilmot mix of "Magic Carpet Ride" as performed by the popular beat combo "The Mighty Dub Katz"...

Let the public decide....

In the absence of posting anything new....

(very busy at the moment!)

I can point you at my Flickr photostream. The missus is also using it as a temporary way to get around having to post any real news....

(I must remember to take work-related pictures sometimes, it's a real note-to-self...)

[Then again...ObNews....Jem "Just A Ride" single with the FBS remix (and my guitar!) on gets to number 16 in chart...Tears For Fears single (without my mix of "Call Me Mellow" on!) gets...er...nowhere really....am working hard on various projects, some of which will be of interest, some others perhaps not....it's hot in Brighton...it's very nice too, really....]

Ben Folds, The Barbican, June 1st 2005

Bloody great. In summary.

In a way it's hard to write too detailed a review of it, because so much happened! He (and the other 2 band members) hardly stopped for a breath between tracks, so there's not a lot of chance to remember all of what happened...

The Barbican might look completely awful from the outside (and much of the inside come to that) but it's a really good place to see someone like Ben Folds, because it's not so big that you can't see what's going on, wherever you happen to be sitting.

The audience absolutely loved every note played, and so they should have. It was an inspired performance. Unlike a band like, ooh let's suggest Tears For Fears, Ben's set mixes up the new material along with the quite old (I mean "Emaline" for example) perfectly - of course his style of music making lends itself to chopping and changing between era/album/band-lineup quite easily, but still it's very well done. And, again back to the TFF type thing, it does seem that being slightly more underground (some would say "never had more than a couple of big hits over here") means you tend to get a crowd that do know all the songs, it's not just people sititng around for songs they heard on the radio 15 years ago, which is nice....

For me, the highlights of the night were a completely rocking version of "Where's Summer B?", the brass-section sing-a-long of "Army" (as ever), the Ben Folds/Dr Dre track (hard to explain that one!) and perhaps this nights version of "Rock This Bitch" (you have to be quite a Ben fan to understand the concept of the whole RTB idea). All that said, there wasn't anything that wasn't a highlight., really. It was that good. And all this from a man suffering from a cracked rib, I would imagine all the jumping around he does at a gig is not helping it heal up that quickly!

We enjoyed every minute of it - Oh, and the support was really great too, more about him later...

And just to make it even better, we're off to see him play again tonight!

Woohooo!
